We are midway into the holiday season and I believe in you to keep up the weight-loss momentum! Below are my list of FUNDAMENTAL rules and tips for how to get fit and stay healthy as ever, with tons of energy this season! Trust me, I know when the holiday treats start coming to your favourite coffee shops. It’s hard to resist, but having a body that is AMAZING and FIT! Plus, having tons of energy, is so much more worth it.
Green tea has long been heralded for its antioxidant polyphenols. However, one of its man active ingredients, catechin, can speed up your metabolism and aid weightless.
Numerous studies have shown that those who drank green tea when dieting lost more weight than those who didn’t go green. The theory is that catechins can improve fat oxidation and thermogenesis – basically, it improves how your body produces energy and heat from digestion.
So switch the fancy Starbucks coffee which can be secretly high in calories for a cup of green tea, one study, suggested that 5 cups of green tea a day can increase your energy expenditure by 90 calories a day and a Grande cup of tea from Starbucks will surely equal 2 of those 5 cups.

Studies have shown that when you use a smaller plate you tend to eat smaller portions and are still satisfied. If you get into the habit of using smaller plates and bowls, you can gradually get used to eating smaller portions and not feel hunger. Eat slowly as well, the brain needs 20 minutes before the stomach will tell it that it is full, so eat slowly. Try investigating mindful eating for ways to not only get the best out of eating and enhancing the taste and sensation but also to slow it down.
While grazing might sound counterproductive to weight loss, it doesn’t have to be.Munching on food throughout the day can help you curb hunger and eat fewer calories overall. The key is moderation, so nibbling not binging – it helps your metabolism keep going at a helpful speed and steady’s blood sugar levels and prevent weight gain via insulin spikes. Plan ahead and make a plan of 3-3-3. 3 meals, 3 snacks, no more than 3 hours apart, take your daily calorie intake limit and divide by 6.
Exercise can seem like a necessary evil, but it doesn’t have to be. There are loads of ways to make it fun, such as going to the gym with friends or taking some time out to do some gentle yoga and meditate. Aerobic exercise is the most efficient way to burn calories. Try to include 150 minutes of aerobic activity, such as walking, cycling and swimming, a week.
This isn’t an impossible target, even though 150 minutes can seem like a lot. Break it down and try to 30 minutes for 5 days a week or even break it down further and do small 10 minute bursts where you can.
Staying hydrated is very important, try to drink at least a litre a day. Water can help you feel a little fuller and less likely to crave food and stops dehydration which can be mistaken for hunger. When you stay hydrated you help your metabolism and so aid in the burning of fat, so every glass of water has a weight loss benefit.
