Grown in subtropical areas, the Moringa Oleifera tree, better known as the “Miracle Tree” is considered to be amongst the most nutritious plants ever discovered. The fresh Moringa powder, derived from the Moringa tree, is deep green and has a potent nutty smell. Moringa is found to contain a higher ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) score, approximately 157,000, than most foods known to have antioxidant capabilities (acai berries, blueberries, dark chocolate, garlic, goji berries, and green tea to name a few). The high ORAC allows the plant to contain seven times the amount of Vitamin C found in oranges, double the amount of protein found in milk, four times as much calcium and Vitamin A, and three times the potassium found in bananas.
While many home-grown and naturopathic supplements have a few health benefits, the Moringa plant has plenty of benefits. Recent scientific research has proven that the plant is not based on sugar and therefore is a powerhouse of nutritional value and a natural energy booster. Its detoxifying effect comes from its ability to purify water. Moringa acts as a coagulant adding itself to toxic materials and bacteria, a process that occurs inside the human body as well.
The Moringa is a versatile supplement with a huge list of benefits. It contains approximately all 20 amino acids, 46 different antioxidants, 36 anti-inflammatory compounds and more than 90 nutrients, making it the best supplement by far.
1) Antioxidant Properties
Moringa leaves contain all 20 types of amino acids, making them rich in antioxidants, including Vitamin C, beta-carotene, quercetin, and chlorogenic acid. In a study that investigated women taking 1.5 teaspoons of moringa leaf powder daily for three months, the researchers found that blood levels containing antioxidants increased significantly. 2) Lower Blood Sugar Levels
Moringa also has anti-diabetic effects and the ability to reduce blood sugar levels, due to the beneficial plant compounds found in the leaves like chlorogenic acid. Chlorogenic acid has been shown to slow the absorption of sugar in cells, and a study revealed that adding 50 grams of moringa leaves to a meal reduced the rise in blood sugar by 21% among diabetic patients.
3) Maintain Healthy Cholesterol Levels
Moringa also has cholesterol-reducing properties. The plant contains the antioxidant hypolipidemic, which has a therapeutic potential for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. The study carried out that proved this finding, discovered that in hyper cholesterol-fed rabbits, at 12 weeks of treatment, it [Moringa] significantly lowered the cholesterol levels and reduced the atherosclerotic plaque formation to about 50 and 86%, respectively. 4) Reduces Fatigue and Increases Energy
Fatigue, which is commonly caused by a lack of vitamins and minerals, can be reduced significantly through the consummation of the Moringa plant. The iron which moringa boasts plenty of (25 times more iron than spinach), plays a significant role in facilitating this as well as Moringa’s non-sugar base. The non-sugar base allows for an energy boost that can be sustained, unlike other sugary foods that give you a momentary boost. Moringa will not only remove the fatigue you are experiencing, but it will provide the much-needed energy high you are craving.
5) Boosts Stamina and Prevents Weight Gain:
Since the Moringa is a complete package of minerals, vitamins, and antioxidants, it serves as a powerhouse of stamina and concentration. It helps in weight loss and prevents weight gain as consuming it provides enough energy and vitality to reduce further eating.
6) Improves Digestion
The Moringa plant aids in the absorption of nutrients which boost the immune system and improve digestion. Moringa contains iron, which helps in the formation of hemoglobin and myoglobin to enhance the immune system and increase mental clarity and allow it to serve as a cleaning agent for your digestive system.
The Moringa plant contains Vitamin A, which helps build collagen fibres within the skin and improves eyesight, and Vitamin C which is an antioxidant and repairs damaged skin. It also contains Vitamin D and calcium, which are both needed for healthy bones and teeth.
8) Aids In Keratin Formation:
The Moringa plant contains certain vitamins, minerals and amino acids, that support the formation of keratin protein which is vital for healthy hair. Methionine, one of the most important amino acids, supplies sulphur to hair, thus preventing hair loss, and the Moringa plant is rich with methionine. Moreover, being high in Vitamin A, Moringa encourages hair growth and maintenance.
